Our mentees are equipped and spurred to take initiatives, post the structured mentorship programme. Our 2016/2017 set of mentees came together to display their leadership skills.
The word ‘kadara’ means ‘asset’ in Hausa and ‘destiny’ in Yoruba language. The mentees have come to believe that girls and women are assets to the society and empowering girls is smart investment. The project targets girls in secondary schools and aims to empower them through sensitisation programmes, mentorship, scholarships and other capacity building that will improve their self-esteem and prepare them for leadership positions. The mentees’ goal is to see the project beneficiaries take the fore front in their schools and communities.
The mentees are currently implementing the pilot phase at Government Secondary School, Jabi where they have held a sensitisation programme and have begun mentoring a set of girls.
