On Friday 12th May, 2017 the Nigerian Women Trust Fund graduated another set of young women leaders under its Young Women Mentorship Program. The Program provides young women with mentorship opportunities for leadership development inspiring them to be active citizens who participate in the democratic space.
Like previous sets, the young women learn first-hand how to carry out successful community projects, engage government, and imbibe strong leadership qualities through skills like: communication, management, public speaking, peer-mentoring and so on. Mentees are assigned to high profile mentors for a duration of six months including Hon. Mulikat Akande-Adeola, Erelu Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, Dr. Kole Shettima, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, Dr. Amina Salihu, Aisha Osori, Barr. Sharon Ikeazor amongst others.
The 2017 mentees initiated Project Kadara – Our Girls, Our Future, a school-based community project which engages young girls in secondary schools early enough to be active citizens and future leaders. The mentees were awarded certificates of completion at the Women Fund’s office and urged to continue to engage the polity.
