In November 2016, the CEO of Nigerian Women Trust Fund – Olufunke Baruwa – joined prominent women leaders at the 2016 WINConference in Abuja, Nigeria. The Theme of the conference was ‘Leading the Way’ with the objectives of sharing best practices around women’s leadership in economic and public life.
As one of the conference’ speakers, Ms. Baruwa spoke on the challenges faced by women in politics and the strategic roles women, political parties, legislature and government can play in improving women’s leadership and political participation. The emphasis was on the findings that increased women representation in government translates to improved and sustainable development.
Other speakers were Eleanor Nwadinobi, Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme (NSRP), Zainab Shariff, Deputy Director (Pharmacy), Federal Ministry of Health, Department of Food and Drugs and Didi Walson-Jack, Director, Federal Civil Service Commission.
The two-day conference drew hundreds of women from all works of life from Nigeria and across the world.
