The Nigerian Women Trust Fund held a twitter quiz with focus on women’s political inclusion on Friday 2nd February 2017 giving away 20 copies of the best seller, “Love Do Not Win Elections” by Ayisha Osori.
The aim of the quiz was to feel the pulse of Nigerians, especially twitter users on women in democratic governance. For over one hour, the @womenfundng twitter handle held the attention of twitter users nationwide posting 20 questions on the indices on women in appointive and elective positions, legislative bills, female ‘sheroes’ and electoral matters amongst others.
The choice of Love Does Not Win Elections (#LDNWE) as the giveaway prize was informed by the Books’ simple yet descriptive experience of a novice’s journey into the murky waters of the Nigerian political terrain. The Nigerian Women’s Trust Fund hopes that the book will provide a first-timer and insider insight, help others avoid the pitfalls, foster learning from her experience during her foray into the world of politics and inspire more women to run for office.
In the words of one of the winners, “the candor with which she has documented her experiences will largely serve the purpose of shining a light on the path of upcoming politicians in a deeply dysfunctional system of Nigerian politics.”
The following are the winners of the competition: Abdulhamid Nasiru, Bright Eugene, Ose Elyonis Ose, Salama Bala, Austin Aigbe, Hadiza T.
