In the Women Fund’s quest to groom a successor generation of female leader the Nigerian Women Trust Fund held a 1-day leadership training at Bingham University, Keffi on the 10th of November 10, 2015. This is part of the Young Women Leadership Project being funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). The focal state and universities are Nasarawa and Niger State and FUT Minna and Bingham University Keffi, respectively.
The training is part of the preparatory activities which aims at preparing the young women for community organizing and legislator engagement and to build in them leadership proficiency and strategic propensity to be responsive and responsible leaders who can engage the political system and subsequently contest and win elections in the future. The training consists of public speaking, community organizing and being an effective leader.
The training was successful; the participants whom were selected by the Student Affairs Department displayed impeccable leadership skills and the willingness to participate in politic and governance. The next stop is Federal University, Minna where another group of young women will participate in another session of the leadership training.
