The Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) hosted ahigh-level meeting themed: The Change Women Want in 2019 and Beyond to articulate practical ways to reversing the trend in women’s political participation and representation in Nigeria on March 21, 2017 in Abuja.

Women Fund’s CEO Olufunke Baruwa moderated two (2) sessions to generate discussions on future intervention for 2017 and beyond and agreements on milestones for concerted towards women’s participation in the 2019 general elections. She emphasized the need for all stakeholders to make this a priority in their strategic plans and programs and reiterated the need for women to start early.

The event brought together female politicians/activists, male champions, civil society organizations and partners, to reflect on the challenges confronting women’s political participation and find practical ways to engage the electoral processes going forward.
