The 2016 African Feminist Forum (AFF) took place in Harare Zimbabwe from 8th-12th April 2016 with the theme “African Feminism: Voice, Power and Soul”. The Chief Executive Officer of the Women Fund, Olufunke Baruwa joined other feminists across the African continent to discuss strategies, refine approaches and develop stronger networks to advance women’s rights in Africa.

The 4th regional forum of the AFF was hosted by the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), a regional women’s grant making foundation based in Accra, Ghana, guided by the AFF Working Group made up of independent feminist activists from across the African region in partnership with the Zimbabwe Feminist Forum hosting committee, and coordinated by ZWRCN.

Activities at the forum included plenary sessions to set the context, take stock and identify areas of strategic concern around politics, economics and society; breakout sessions with key themes included: skills sharing sessions, The Great Debate on a contentious issue within feminism; wellness space focusing on physical and emotional well-being; amongst others.
