The Nigerian Women Trust Fund, Hadis Foundation, ENGINE, Women of Glory Foundation and Mercy Corps with support from UKAid co-hosted the Abuja #Walkofa1000Men as part of activities to mark the 16 days of activism to end violence against women and girls. The walk took place on Thursday 8th Dec. 2016 from the Millennium Park to the Federal Secretariat and drew over 2,000 men and women far above the expected number.

Some of the prominent male gender champions were Nigeria’s most controversial entertainer, Charly Boy Oputa (Area Father) and Nollywood’s prolific actor and film maker, Zack Amata who joined hundreds of other stakeholders on this march to push for change and end violence against women and girls.

Women Fund reached out to other social media and civil society activists to host similar shadow walks in Lagos and in far away Buenos Aires, Argentina on the same day.
